Popular git hosting changes 'master' to 'mister', claims sexism is not as bad as slavery
Many open source projects collectively decided to abandon the default git branch naming system which contains the name "master" for the main branch. "Master" has heavy slavery- and racism-related connotations. Popular alternatives today are "main" or "default".
However, one popular Git repository hosting decided to make a "half-step" instead of a full leap and renamed "master" to "mister".
"Slavery is very bad, of course, but sexism is kind of less bad, so the main branch for us now "mister" for at least a few decades. Progress is not made in one day!" claims the CEO.
